How did you get into direct response fundraising?

Truly a blessing with no disguise. I came from a background in commercial advertising where I remember going to work one day and feeling unmotivated and unfulfilled. I responded to a job posting for New River Communications where the work was similar to the work I was doing but for better causes and with more visible and quicker results.

What’s the best part of your job?

Being able to wear so many hats and know that the work you’re doing day in and day out is contributing to great causes. It makes coming to work exciting. I sometimes think of myself as a fighter; the work being done are for causes bigger than anything I can do alone.

Worst part of your job?

Worst? I haven’t had a worst part of the job as I’ve had hard parts of the job. But I would have to say the worst thing about direct-response fundraising would be a campaign not performing as well as we expect it to. We fight so hard for our clients and with every mailing or emailing we do, we are looking to make a big impact.

Your favorite escape from the job?

I am a travel enthusiast and try to spend as much time as I can outside of Florida, traveling to new locations and learning new cultures. I also have a love for writing and filmmaking.
