How did you get into direct response fundraising?
I started working at New River Communications as an intern while studying at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. It was a great experience for me and I learned a lot working alongside the other designers. After my internship, they kept me around on a freelance basis while I continued pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree. Eventually, I was lucky enough to be offered a job and I joined the team.

What’s the best part of your job?
From the second I was exposed to art I was hooked, and I enjoy growing every day in my design skills. My greatest satisfaction in work is using my talents to powerfully communicate the vision and work of our clients so that others feel drawn to support them. It’s rewarding knowing that my work is helping to benefit the great and important causes we work for.

Worst part of your job?
That’s a tough question because I really enjoy what I do. It’s easy to lose hours of my day in front of my computer designing and learning new ways to create. I am very meticulous in my craft and sometimes I feel that there aren’t enough hours in the day to perfect my designs. I do not like to disappoint. The worst thing for me is hitting a creative block – but working thru it only helps to make me a better designer.

Your favorite escape from the job?
When I’m not in front of the computer designing, I like to spend my time outdoors, immersing myself in nature. Being born and raised in South Florida, the outdoor adventures are endless. Biking, camping, kayaking, and hiking are all great outlets for me to decompress. I also continue my love for the game of baseball by volunteering as a Little League coach.
